HEARTH Recommends
Home School Legal Defense Association
Membership in this organization is a good investment!  They diligently protect our rights to teach our own children.  For a reasonable  annual fee, they will defend your family without additional cost, should you ever need help with the authorities concerning your homeschool.  These are excellent, godly lawyers with a very good track record.  This is especially recommended for families using the religious exemption option.

The cost of HSLDA membership is usually $100 per year, per family.  HEARTH is able to get a group discount because we have at least 25 member families participating.  This brings the cost per family down to $85.00 per year.  Be sure to get our group discount if you decide to join.  To be included in this, get our membership discount code number, by e-mailing hearth_info@yahoo.com and requesting it.  Members will be sent the discount, code number.  Then, go to www.hslda.org and fill out their form or call (540) 338-5600.

Consider this "homeschool insurance".   You need to have this protection BEFORE you get a call from the truant officer!

Home Educators Association of Virginia (HEAV)

This state organization works with individual families as well as support groups.  They publish the comprehensive Virginia Home Educators Manual ($25) which covers all aspects of home education in Virginia.  They also provide an annual state convention and text book exhibit (highly recommended), sponsor a leadership conference, counsel hundreds of individuals, represent your interests in the Virginia General Assembly, and provide accurate data for the media.  There is a $25.00 annual fee for membership.
