Science & Technology Fair 2007

Types of Exhibits

1.  Science Experiment:
- Hypothesis (what you think will happen)
-  Procedure of testing and measuring
-  Outcomes of experiments
-  Deductions / conclusions.

2.  Research Project:
-  Focus of investigation.  What are you looking for and why.
-  Where the information (charts, samples, specimens, collections, etc.), came from
-  Documentation of what was learned/discovered from what was found.  (Show this in display)

3.  Application of Technology:
-  Name of technology used (ie:  electronics, pneumatics, etc.)
-  Description of how your application works (how you used the technology) and what you used it for.  For example: a schematic, architecture, algorithms, processes, etc., with explanations and what they accomplish.
-  Demonstration (or documentation) of your application in use.

Exhibit Display

-  Each exhibit should have a 3-fold self standing Project Display Board made of sturdy corrugated cardboard, measuring 3 feet high and 4 feet wide.  These may be found for purchase at Staples or Teacher supply stores.   Information must be typed in at least a size 14 font with at least a  size 20 font for headings.
-  The original written (or narrated) work  and research must be done by the student, but may be typed by the parent.
-  The exhibit's Title, Student name, and age/grade must be on the display.
-  The exhibit should contain the information listed above.
-  In addition to the project board, the exhibit may include demonstrations, models, collections, etc., which will fit in front of it.  
-  Precautions should be taken to avoid accidents.  Avoid fire hazards.  Don't use dangerous chemicals.  Don't expose dangerous electrical voltages.  Animals must stay in cages.  Use common sense safety precautions.  

      Awards:
Awards have not been determined this year as of yet.
HEARTH's website will post pictures of all displays and announce winners also.

You will need to pay $5.00 per project in advance of the science/technology fair.
